FAQs

Who do you work with?

We work with independent and local businesses: trades, shops, cafés, studios, consultancies and small teams that want to look more put together online and in person.

Most of our clients are SME businesses who want clear branding, a solid website and simple marketing support, not a huge agency setup.

What services do you offer?

Our work sits across three core areas:

  • Design – branding, logo design, visual identity, brand guidelines, print, decks and day to day graphic design

  • Marketing – messaging, campaigns, content support, email, social media assets and ongoing marketing support

  • Digital – website design and development, online stores, Google Business Profile setup and simple local SEO

You can start with one area, such as branding or a website, then layer in marketing support when it makes sense.

How much does it cost to work with you?

Most projects are priced as fixed fees based on scope, rather than hourly rates. Branding projects, website projects and ongoing marketing support all sit at different levels, so we usually talk through what you need first, then share a clear proposal with a fee and timeline.

After an enquiry, or introduction call, we can also give you a rough idea of typical ranges for similar businesses, so you can see if it is in the right area before going further.

How much does a website cost?

Website pricing depends on the size of the site and what it needs to do. A focused service site for a local business is very different from a larger site with an online store.

We usually look at:

  • Number of pages and templates

  • Whether you need online booking or e commerce

  • How much existing content we can reuse

  • Whether we are writing or editing copy for you

  • Any integrations you need

After a short briefing call we outline a fixed project fee so you know exactly what is included. There are no long term contracts for basic brochure sites.

Do you only work on full projects, or can you help with smaller jobs?

We do both:

  • Full projects such as brand identity, website design or launch campaigns

  • Smaller pieces of work such as tightening up an existing logo, refreshing key documents, or improving your Google Business Profile

For ongoing support, we can discuss a light retainer if you want regular design, web or marketing help each month, e.g. X amount of social media templates and posts, X amount of presentation slides, etc.

How long does a typical project take?

Timelines vary by project type and your availability:

  • Branding and visual identity projects often take 4 to 8 weeks

  • Small to medium websites usually take 6 to 10 weeks from briefing to launch

  • Ongoing marketing work is usually planned in three month blocks

We always share a simple timeline at the start so you know what is happening when and what we need from you.

What is your process from first chat to launch?

Most projects follow the same outline:

  1. Introduction (Discovery) – a short call and simple questionnaire to understand your business, goals and budget

  2. Proposal – a clear outline of scope, fees, timeline and what you will receive

  3. Foundations – collecting any existing assets, content and access we need

  4. Design and build – developing concepts, refining direction and building out the final brand, website or assets

  5. Review and refine – structured rounds of feedback and changes

  6. Launch and handover – final files, training where needed and a simple plan for what to do next

For ongoing marketing support, we adapt this into a monthly or quarterly rhythm.

What locations does you work cover?

Whilst we are based in Toronto, Canada, we have extensive networks in the US, UK and Europe. Dependent on your flexibility with timezones, we are happy to accommodate no matter where you are located.

Will I be able to update my website myself?

In most cases, yes. This often depends on the type of website you need, and the platform we decide to proceed with. For most, we design and build websites so that you can:

  • Edit text and images

  • Add new pages or blog posts

  • Update simple items like opening hours, prices and services

At launch we provide a short walkthrough and basic guidance so you feel comfortable making day to day changes. If you prefer, we can stay onboard for ongoing support.

What do you need from me to get started?

The main things we need are:

  • A simple overview of your business, services and ideal customers

  • Any existing logo, brand assets, photography or website content

  • Access to relevant accounts such as domain registrar, website platform and Google Business Profile

  • A realistic view of your budget and timescales

If you do not have any of this organised yet, that is fine. We can help you work it out during discovery.

If you are ready to proceed, you can start by filling out the Enquiry Form, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Who owns the work and accounts once the project is finished?

You own your brand assets, website and marketing accounts once the project is paid for. Where possible we set things up in your name:

  • Your website is in your account, with us added as a collaborator

  • Your Google Business Profile and analytics accounts are owned by you

  • You receive final logo and brand files in workable formats

This means you are not locked into us or any long term contract.

Do you offer ongoing marketing support?

Yes. Some clients prefer a one off project such as a brand identity or website. Others want ongoing support with content, campaigns and updates.

We can agree a light monthly or quarterly package that might include:

  • Design and build of regular email updates

  • Social media templates and asset creation

  • Website updates and small improvements

  • Reporting on basic metrics so you know what is working

After discussing your needs, we can propose some options that would best fit your requirements. Support is flexible and can be adjusted as your needs change.

How do you measure success on a project?

We agree simple measures of success at the start. That might include:

  • Clearer brand and messaging that your team and customers actually use

  • A website that is easier to navigate, faster to update and more aligned with your current services

  • More enquiries from the right kind of customers

  • Better visibility in local search and more engagement with your content

For ongoing marketing work we look at basic numbers like enquiries, form submissions, calls from Google, email engagement and site visits, then make adjustments based on what we see.
